We All Need To Place Our Hope and Trust In Something More Secure

August 8, 2011

I ask that my dual spiritual fathers: Padre Pio and John Vianney intercede for me while I write this new blog posting.

My dear Christians,

yes the stock market is going nuts and the credit rating is going down in the United States and that means we must work harder; even work harder at home to help those who are the ones that have jobs.  Making sure the dishwasher is empty and ready for the dirty dishes, that supper is cooked for them when they get home, cold water or cold other drinks are there for them.  But, we must do all this work for God and offer it up to Him as a prayer and spiritual sacrifice; this is how we are to pray non-stop as the bible tells us to do.

If we pray all day and night; the devil will get tired of trying to bother us and leave; St. Padre Pio says.

Material things are good; if we use them as a gift from God to help us live and get closer to Him; but they become a evil or an idol if we start getting obessed with a certain item and then we treat it as if it is the most important thing or even treat it or the person as if they are a god.  We should never place our trust and hope in things that will crash, fall, break, end; if we do that; then our hope and trust would be gone when that thing has ended.

Why do we want to place our hope and trust into something un-secure?  Why do we keep looking back; when Jesus says to those looking back, “that you are unfit for the Kingdom of God.” Those who are fit never look back and get afraid but keep moving forward and their eyes fixed on Jesus.

I too must work on not letting past fears and bad memories run my life but instead to keep my eyes on Jesus and not worry about the storm around me.  If the stock market goes down or crashes, if the credit rating drops even lower; those are storms trying to remove our eyes off of Jesus and trying to shake our faith; we mustn’t have our hopes and trust in those things; but our Hope and Trust in Jesus Christ and no thing or no one else.

Remember about the parable of the man who built his house on soild ground and rock and when the tide came in; his house wasn’t washed away or destroyed but the one who built his on shaking and un-secure land; his house was washed out to sea.  Let this not happen to us in these problems we are facing in America.

Amen.
